Our Cosmelan treatment is a professional depigmentation peel treatment designed to target; melasma, pigmentation, post inflammatory pigmentation, sun damage, age spots/ freckles, skin rejuvenation, post acne scars. This treatment works by fading the appearance of existing pigmentation whilst sedating and regulating the formation of future excess production of melanocytes in melanin cells. The Cosmelan Program
The Cosmelan Depigmentation Treatment is a two phase process;
Phase 1: In clinic Application
Performed by a qualified skin specialist, The cosmelan depigmenting mask is applied and left on the skin for 8-12hours (the time is determined by the therapist) which is then followed through at home. The in clinic application of the mask is completed within 30 minutes.
- A full skin analysis and consultation is conducted before your treatment.
- The skin is cleansed and prepared.
- A thick layer of the cosmelan mask is applied to the whole face. (this process is virtually painless)
- Instructions will be given on how to remove the mask at home and depending on the skin type they must stay on between eight to twelve hours (the exact time is determined by the therapist).
- A complete after-care kits, with instructions will be provided to you, along with the additional Home-care products.
- A weekly LED light for the following 4-6 weeks is provided to encourage skin healing post cosmelan. The Stem Cell Facial is recommended and completed Upto 8-12 weeks post your cosmelan 1 treatment apart of your cosmelan packaged program.
Phase 2: Home- Care Routine
Phase 2 is the most essential
Seven days post cosmelan mask treatment the second phase includes the use of the cosmelan 2 cream. This is a tyrosinase inhibitor, which works by sedating the production of excess melanin. The treatment also includes a 12 week home care program of cleanser, moisturisers and sunscreen. When it comes to melasma, a maintenance program is essential to reduce the chances of pigment reoccurrence. The Cosmelan Professional Treatment may be required every 12 months in severe cases. However, Cosmelan 2 cream, a tyrosinase inhibitor is required for as long as the person wishes to prevent the formation of new pigmentation. This means if you would like to control melasma you will be required to continue to use this.
- After the specified time given by your therapist, the cosmelan mask is removed with a gentle cleanser.
- Immediately after the removal of the mask, apply the recommended products given a part of your home care kit, the Mesoestetic Hydra-Vital Factor K is applied to protect the skin and restore hydration.
- Your skin is expected to experience extreme peeling after 2-3 days post cosmelan 1 treatment in the clinic.
- The Cosmelan II cream should be applied according to the aftercare/homecare instructions given.

The full results are typically seen anywhere from 3-6 months after the cosmelan peel treatment. Within the first 2-4 weeks clients will start to notice skin blemishes and pigment spots fading and a brighter skin complexion breaking through. After a couple of weeks, the skin will start to take on a shiny, healthier glow.

It is recommended that you avoid any other procedure on the face post cosmelan including; laser hair removal on the face, cosmetic injectables, skin treatments (such as microdermabrasions, chemical peels or skin needling) for 3-6 months post treatment. Eyebrow waxing must be avoided for 30 days post cosmelan peel. While maintaining on cosmelan homescare, discontinue its use for 5 days prior to waxing, and do not restart treatment until 3 days after waxing to prevent lifting of the skin caused by waxing.
How many treatments are required? How many treatments are required?
Only one treatment of the cosmelan depigmentation treatment is required for the reduction of unwanted pigmentation. A follow up skin analysis 6-12 months post your initial cosmelan treatment is recommended. Depending on the severity or underlying causes for any stubborn recurrence of pigment. A spot treatment can be performed within this time frame to manage the recurrence of pigment.
